Georgia KIDS Indicators

The information below was gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey, Five Year Estimates, in collaboration with Georgia Family Connection Partnership (GaFCP)—the state’s designated KIDS COUNT grantee— that compiles current, reliable data on child and family well-being in each of our state’s 159 counties.

KIDS COUNT is a state and national effort to track the well-being of children. Funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, KIDS COUNT informs local, state, and national discussions concerning ways to secure a brighter future for all children. By providing high-quality data and analyses, KIDS COUNT raises the visibility of children’s issues through a non-partisan, evidence-based lens.

The tables below tracks health insurance indicators across Georgia of children well-being in two result areas that support the mission of CiDrep SickKids to have all children healthy; cared for, and well. DATA PROVIDED BY Georgia Family Connection Partnership and National KIDS COUNT.

Children without health insurance coverage are less likely than insured children to have a regular health care provider and to receive care when they need it. They are also more likely to receive treatment after their condition has worsened, putting them at greater risk of hospitalization. Having health insurance can protect families from financial devastation when a child experiences a serious or chronic illness.
